After receiving some gorgeous handmade crafts from architects coming back from Kanazawa, and designers constantly insisting that I visit the 21st contemporary art museum, I swung by the museum in Kanazawa on our way back to Tokyo during my Golden week vacation. With little research and my poor itinerary planning, I only knew of two things in Kanazawa: The 21st century contemporary art museum by SANAA, (the swimming pool exhibit), and fine pieces of arts and crafts that I could potentially decorate my recipes and next home with. Thanks to quick planning, we were able to explore Kanazawa and enjoy a palatable experience of the city within our 2 day itinerary.

Kanazawa’s 21st contemporary art museum was only about a 5 minute bike ride/15 minute walk from us… and fortunately located in the center core of Kanazawa, surrounded by several other attractions including Kenroukuen garden, Kanazawa castle, and Higashi Chaya. This particular museum, one of SANAA’s most notable work, is circular in form, clean with levels of transparency for us to see inside from any point of view. The corridors also encourage this blend of private/public spaces, so we could enjoy personal space yet simultaneously share it with others.. and also undergo  this peek-a-boo experience.

After hearing about this cool swimming pool exhibit over the past few years, I eagerly pulled R into Leandro Elrich’s swimming pool. (I can’t swim, so I’ve yearned to live this virtual experience throughout my lifetime and feel proud even today that I’ve fulfilled that dream)

As for food,  the most efficient investment in feeding me and keeping me from complaints are buffets and ice cream. Because. I am always. hungry. So here you go folks. the highest valued, most delicious museum food / all you can eat food. ever.
